Welcome December!

We are always learning new concetps and the children are working hard in all subject areas. I know it is hard to keep our regular schedule with the Christmas Season fast approching. Please do your best to get our children to read daily… Thank you all!

A few groups wanted their pictures taken with their robot creation… Our scientific world is in great hands.

last week of November

Here they are with Ms Jo and Trusty the puppet! They were having a great conversation about our rights and our responsabilities… You will find on Monday the lessons outline of the Safe program. Every week, I will send you via the homework sheet the important information about the lessons.

This coming week, we are going to write our classroom letter to Santa, continue working with understanding numbers, reading about real life things, reading and learning from our letters if we get more, working on learning our Christmas Concert song with the actions… Furthermore, this coming Friday, we are having a dance! Please read the pink sheet attached to the homework sheet. Please send in the $5 as soon as possible if your child is going. We are also going to have our monthly assembly on Friday. Like you are able to see, a very busy week ahead.

Have a great week and talk soon… Before I forget, you are all invited to come and read a Christmas story to our children starting the first day of December! Yes, you may read an english book. Every year, our children really do enjoy this. Please let me know if you are available. I will make it work with your schedule.

Have a great weekend and talk soon 🙂

P. S. I think I did see the big guy!

Full week ahead!

We are heading into the last push of learning before the Christmas Break… It is hard to believe that we are in that part of the school year.

We are continuing to work in all areas. Academically, we are moving into regrouping (adding or subtracting), more working with numbers, cursive writing, letter writing, our community is like, learning our Christmas song for the concert…

Before I forget, it is getting colder and we are still going outside for our playtime. Please talk to our children about wearing their snow pants and all their winter gear! I am not fighting with them – the expectation is what you have, you wear.

They are so engaged in reading a new series of books- ZigZag (the adventures of a fly!)

Macaroni math (counting and regrouping)… Hey, I use what I can to make it more fun…

Have a great weekend and talk soon 🙂

Remembrance Day

This coming week, we will continue to work in all subject areas… I wanted to say THANK YOU for coming in to talk about your child’s learning progress.

Over the weekend, take time to refect on the woman and men who lost their lives for our Rights and Freedoms. You would have found in our children’s homework binder the Legion Poster Contest permission form for you to fill. I have indicated with a star the sections you need to fill in. Please return those on Tuesday… Here are 2B entries:

It will be exciting to hear if some of our work makes it to the winner’s circle.

Have a great long weekend and enjoy your time together 🙂

Report card, Parent-Teacher Conferences, Remembrance Day Assembly…

It is hard to believe that we are already into the first report card and Parent-Teacher conference time of the year. It is going to be great to get to sit with you all and talk about our children’s progress and some challenges. What is the most important element of all this is the celebrate our children’s learning and growth.
As you may know, it is also Book Fair time in the library… It is a great opportunity to get great books as stocking stuffers – I know it is early but time is really flying.

Please note that the Report cards will be in our children’s homework binder on Tuesday… Also remember that we are at the beginning of the year and still time for some academic and social growth. You support with reading at home is paying off for our children. It is the most important learning in our grade level.

This past week was all about Halloween… This coming week is all about Remembrance Day – reading books, our Assembly, coloring pictures, talking about peace and how can I help… I normally ask our children to participate in the Legion Art Competition- more information to come. In the past, my students always do very well in the prizes.

Have a great week and see you all soon

Monsieur Terry 🙂
